Acceptance and Empathy….That’s all it takes!

I personally believe we all have toxic traits, and they can get amplified under stress. Key to stay calm and keep controlling positively our emotions (easier said than done!). One question though stuck in my mind for the past few years…Can coaching help to change toxic behaviours?”
I asked a good friend of mine; certified leadership coach and her answer is ‘YES!…But for coaching to work, abrasive leaders need to be open to change’. Fair enough but change is hard and sometimes the damage is done!!
I believe in the power of coaching to guide behavioural change, but I also believe that some people should be accepted the way they are… - and better we accept them at the earliest to avoid friction and toxic environment.
Saying this, If you ever cross someone who is likely to display this behaviour at your workplace, just empathize and remember it is their issue, not yours…who knows what they went through in life!. One life skill I learned since becoming a mom, is how to deal with attention seeking behaviour…To avoid tantrums, shower them with positive attention they are demanding and don’t be afraid to stop the show….
I personally do not let toxic behaviour spill over my personal life anymore! It is proven that toxic management leads people to mental fatigue and at some point it becomes contagious….We’ve been already fighting this pandemic with our bodies, minds & souls so don’t let one person's negative demeanour affect your precious life!
Just look out for yourself!...We are Unstoppable!
