Working Mamas,
Let's be honest, we all feel nervous about what will happen to our career progression once work knows about our status as moms-to-be or simply we delay announcing it because we know that some workplaces are not always a friendly place for pregnant women. We spend time thinking how to disclose it to our co-workers and management because we don’t know how they will react. Of course, having women who understand this in the team is a game changer, but it is not always the case...!
I personally wasn’t comfortable announcing my pregnancies due to mental pressure of career development but I learnt (a bit late) that revealing it as early as possible has a positive impact on my mental well-being and good for the organization. Being a mother makes us more compassionate leaders. It gives us a grit and resilience.
Let’s just feel free and confident to talk about it when we are comfortable. Let’s stop feeling guilty about our pregnancy announcements!!!
